About Karen Merry's Pen & Ink Paintings:
Technical pens were the mainstay of the designer and illustrator's craft before the development of computer graphics. Artists working in Pen & Ink use this craft as the basis for their fine art paintings. Using technical pens, the artist applies successive layers of color to realize the final image.
For her Pen & Ink paintings, Fine Art Artist, Karen Merry, uses Koh-I-Nor Rapidograph technical pens for clean fine lines. Each pen has a refillable ink reservoir and color coded cap and point section. The pens are identified by a standard point size or by it's width in millimeters.
Karen uses Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic water-Resistant Artist's inks in 38 colors on Bristol paper. The pen reservoir allows Karen to mix colors for a wider color range. The Daler-Rowney colored inks are light-fast tested and will not fade if properly handled.
Besides the colored inks, no other media in used in Karen's Pen & Ink paintings.
